Sales of the first generation Nissan Almera started in Europe in 1995. Buyers could choose a sedan or one of two hatchbacks: with five or three doors.
Gasoline engines with an engine capacity of 1.4 and 1.6 liters were available to buyers. 2.0 liter diesel or petrol engine
The car is distinguished by a simple and unpretentious appearance without unnecessary decorations. You won't find chrome elements or original design solutions here. Only the SR package was equipped with sports body kits, fog lights and alloy wheels. Regardless of the type of body, its front part is the same in all versions.
Simplicity and functionality are the distinctive features of the entire car, including the interior. Its design is the most standard for Japanese cars of those years: a gray four-spoke steering wheel, a black dashboard surface, and white instrument numbers.
The basic configuration includes power steering, air conditioning, an audio system with two speakers, electric windows in front, and an ABS system.
More expensive trim levels received an audio system with six speakers, velor interior trim, an on-board computer, and electric windows throughout the car.
Both car engines with which the car was delivered showed themselves to be good: they are reliable and easy to maintain, but over time they begin to eat up oil. The timing chain after 100 thousand kilometers requires attention, as it can stretch. This will be indicated by ringing sounds when starting the engine.
The engines are fuel-efficient and run great. At the same time, its consumption is very moderate: 8-10 liters in the city and 6-7 liters on the highway.
Gasoline engines were supplied with a five-speed manual transmission. Even after driving 150-200 thousand kilometers, there are practically no complaints about the operation of the gearbox. Clutch service life is up to 80 thousand kilometers.
The suspension design is standard - MacPherson struts in the front, and a semi-independent beam at the rear. This pair has proven itself well in operation, so there are practically no comments about the Almera suspension. Original spare parts for it are not cheap, but they are successfully replaced with cheaper analogues. Up to 100 thousand kilometers, the suspension requires almost no investment, but then you will have to replace shock absorbers, bearings, and after 150 thousand - ball joints.
Main advantages of the machine:
The disadvantages include the following:
Nissan Almera is a typical representative of the old Japanese school. It is simple, reliable, modest in appearance and comfortable inside. This is a good alternative to a domestic car. Before purchasing, you need to analyze the condition of the machine, diagnose components and assemblies. Due to the fact that Almera is often chosen for taxis, many examples have a huge mileage and are in appropriate condition.
