Gasoline engines Almera N16

If in the classic Almere there are only 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engines with 107 hp, then here both gasoline and diesel engines are already performing in the arena. Therefore, when purchasing a Nissan Almera N 16, you need to do something with the choice of engines.

Previously, without problems, you could use gasoline engines with 1.4 and 1.6 liters. They were reliable and dynamic. Now it was necessary to choose from 16 valve 1.5 liter engines with 90 hp. and 1.8 with 114 horses.

More dynamic versions belong to 1.8 liters. gasoline units.

After some time, modernization took place (2002) and the engines were equipped with mechanisms that changed the gas distribution phases. The power of the cars increased to 98 horses and, accordingly, to 116 hp.

But in both types of Nissan Almera N16 units, problems and malfunctions were revealed in the form of high oil consumption (1 l/1000 km) due to low-quality piston rings.

  • Timing chains are subject to stretching.
  • The engines begin to rumble with a gradual decrease in power.
  • Lambda probes, flow meters, crankshaft position sensors also begin to show their malfunctions.

Diesel engines

Nissan Almera N16 diesel engines have minor problems and malfunctions.

The 110 hp 2.2di engines have direct injection from Nissan.

The biggest disadvantages of VP44 fuel injection pump units, with a service life of up to 200 thousand km, are that they are not dynamic.

Here is another type of motor that appeared in collaboration with Renault. You can call them modernized Nissan engines. These are turbodiesels equipped with injection mechanisms and variable geometry turbochargers.

Power units have 136 horses. They have good performance indicators. But this also has its downsides.

Motors are very sensitive to fuel quality. This is why the injectors suffer. The power of these cars was achieved through turbochargers, but they are very expensive to repair.

If you like economical driving, then the line includes 1.5 liter engines, with the Renault production base. They have 82 horses. They eat 4.5 l/100 km. But they also don’t like bad fuel. Denzo fuel injectors, whatever one may say, will have to be changed after 100-150 thousand km. They don't recover.
