Nissan GT-R R35 Problems and Weaknesses

The Nissan GT-R R35 (2007-present) is a high-performance sports car known for its speed and technology. However, like any complex machine, it can encounter a number of problems. Here are some of the most common problems and how to fix them:

1. Transmission Problems (GR6)

Problem: The GR6 dual-clutch transmission can be prone to wear and tear and develop various problems, including shift squealing, overheating, and electronic errors.

Solution: Regular transmission maintenance, including changing the transmission fluid every 30,000-40,000 km, using genuine parts, and correct software tuning. Serious problems may require repair or replacement of the clutch and updating the TCM (Transmission Control Module) software.

2. Brake Disc and Pad Wear

Problem: High loads on the braking system can lead to rapid wear of the brake pads and discs, as well as overheating of the brake fluid.

Solution: Use quality brake pads and discs recommended by the manufacturer, and check their condition regularly. Replace the brake fluid with high-temperature fluid every 20,000-30,000 km, or more often if used intensively on the track.

3. Engine Overheating

Problem: Under high load conditions, the VR38DETT engine can overheat, resulting in reduced power and possible damage.

Solution: Ensure regular coolant changes, check the radiator and cooling system, install additional coolers if the car is used on the track. Regularly check the condition of the oil cooler and renew it if necessary.

4. Turbocharging and Boost Issues

Problem: Turbochargers can experience wear or oil leaks, resulting in reduced power or even engine damage.

Solution: Regularly check the condition of turbochargers and watch for oil leaks. Use only high-quality engine oil and change it in a timely manner. Repair or replace turbochargers if necessary.

5. Suspension Wear

Problem: The suspension of the GT-R R35, especially in track conditions, can wear out, including shock absorbers, bushings and ball joints.

Solution: Perform regular suspension inspections and replace worn components as needed. For track use, consider installing heavy-duty or adjustable suspension components.

6. Differential and Transfer Case Problems

Problem: Viscous couplings and differentials can be prone to overheating and wear, causing problems with power distribution between the axles.

Solution: Perform regular oil changes in differentials and transfer cases, especially if the car is often used at high speeds or on tracks. Install additional radiators to reduce the temperature of working components.

7. Electronic Systems and Sensors

Problem: Complex electronic systems, such as boost pressure sensors or stability control systems, can fail or malfunction.

Solution: Periodically perform diagnostics of electronic systems and update software. If errors occur, check and replace sensors as needed.

8. Car body corrosion

Problem: Despite good anti-corrosion protection, in severe winters or high humidity, the car body may be subject to corrosion.

Solution: Wash your car regularly, especially in winter, and apply protective coatings. Inspect the body for rust and eliminate it at the first sign.
