Automatic Transaxle FS5A-EL

Engine: LF, L3 Turbo, L5   

1. Suspension:

Stabilizer struts and silent blocks:

Wear out quickly, especially when driving on bad roads.

Ball joints and wheel bearings:

May require replacement at about 50-80 thousand km.

2. Body corrosion:

Vulnerable areas:

Door edges, rear wheel arches and hood.

Rear license plate and trunk (especially on hatchbacks).

Reason: weak factory anti-corrosion coating.

3. Brake system:

Rapid wear of brake discs and pads, especially on versions with powerful engines.

Tendency to seizing of rear brake calipers.

4. Engines:

1.6 MZR (Z6):

Low power and possible problems with EGR valves with bad fuel.

2.0 and 2.5 (LF, L5):

Oil leaks due to wear of the valve cover gasket.

The mass air flow sensor (MAF) may become clogged.

2.3 DISI Turbo (L3-VDT):

High risk of turbine overheating if used incorrectly.

Quick failure of the bulbs in the rear lights.

6. Soundproofing:
