Mazda (626, MX-6) Electrical Wiring Diagram

Mazda 626 – Main Problems

1. Engine and its malfunctions

⚠ Oil leaks (2.0L, 2.5L V6) – weak cylinder head gaskets, crankshaft seals.

⚠ Increased oil consumption (2.5L V6 KL-DE) – wear of oil scraper rings.

⚠ Knocking hydraulic lifters (2.0L, 1.8L) – especially in winter, flushing or replacement is required.

⚠ Timing belt wear (diesel 2.0 RF-T) – if broken, it can damage valves.

✅ Advice: change the oil regularly and check the condition of the gaskets.

2. Transmission (manual and automatic transmission)

⚠ Automatic transmission problems (GF/GW) – overheating, slipping, hard shifting.

⚠ Wear of 2nd gear synchronizers (5-speed manual transmission) – complex repair.

⚠ Gearbox oil seal leaks – especially in older cars.

✅ Advice: change the gearbox oil every 40-60 thousand km.

3. Suspension and steering

âš  Rapid wear of the front levers and stabilizer bushings.

⚠ Knocking steering racks – especially after 150,000 km.

âš  Shock absorbers lose their effectiveness after 100-120 thousand km.

✅ Advice: monitor the condition of the struts and change the stabilizer bushings at the first symptoms.

4. Electrics and electronics

⚠ Failure of the heater control unit (GF/GW) – the fan does not work.

⚠ Glitchy central locking – often due to wiring in the doors.

⚠ Burnt contacts in the steering column switches – problems with headlights and windshield wipers.

✅ Advice: check the condition of the wiring and clean the contacts.

5. Body and corrosion

âš  Thresholds, wheel arches, doors (especially GD, GE) rot.

âš  The bottom rusts, especially near the rear side members.

✅ Advice: anti-corrosion treatment will extend the life of the body.
