1. Increased oil consumption (2.0 and 2.5 Skyactiv-G engines)
🔹 Symptoms:
Oil is lost faster than normal (up to 1 liter per 2-3 thousand km).
Burning smell in the engine area.
🔹 Causes:
Piston ring design features (oil scraper rings become clogged with carbon).
Oil can enter the combustion chamber through the crankcase ventilation.
🔹 Solution:
Use high-quality 5W-30 or 0W-20 oil and change it every 7-10 thousand km.
Check the oil level regularly.
2. Automatic transmission problems (AW6A-EL, 6-speed automatic transmission)
🔹 Symptoms:
Jerking when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.
Slow response when pressing the gas.
🔹 Causes:
Worn out automatic transmission valve body.
Software errors in the control unit.
🔹 Solution:
Update the gearbox firmware at an authorized dealer.
Change the oil in the gearbox every 60 thousand km.
3. Wear of the steering rack (knocking in the steering wheel, play)
🔹 Symptoms:
Knocking and creaking when turning the steering wheel.
Play in the steering.
🔹 Causes:
Worn out steering rack bushing.
Loosening of the steering column mount.
🔹 Solution:
Check the steering column mount and tighten the bolts.
If severely worn, replace the rack bushings.
4. Electronics problems (MZD Connect, Start/Stop button)
🔹 Symptoms:
Multimedia glitches, screen freezes.
Problems starting the engine (Start/Stop button does not work).
🔹 Causes:
Multimedia software failures.
Weak battery or button malfunction.
🔹 Solution:
Update the multimedia firmware at the dealer.
Check the battery charge (failures may occur when discharged).
5. Corrosion of the rear door and arches (early KE versions)
🔹 Symptoms:
Rust appears on the lower part of the trunk door.
Rusty spots on the rear arches.
🔹 Causes:
Insufficient protection of the metal at the joints.
Moisture accumulation in the drainage holes.
🔹 Solution:
Treat the arches and rear door with anti-corrosion.
Regularly wash the joints from dirt and salt.
