Mazda CX-5 KF Main problems and complaints of owners

1. Engine and transmission

Increased oil consumption (2.5 SkyActiv-G)

Some owners note increased oil consumption after 50-100 thousand km.

Solution: check the oil level, use high-quality fuel and change the oil in a timely manner.

Gearbox problems (6-speed automatic transmission)

Jerking and delays when shifting gears, especially when cold.

Possible jolts when downshifting.

Solution: update the gearbox software at the dealer, check the level and quality of the transmission oil.

Floating speed and loss of traction

Possible throttle valve malfunction or clogged fuel injectors.

Solution: clean the throttle, diagnose the fuel system.

2. Suspension and steering

Suspension stiffness

Many owners note that on bad roads the suspension transmits too much vibration to the cabin.

Knocking in the front suspension

Most often caused by wear of the stabilizer bushings or stabilizer struts.

Solution: replace the stabilizer bushings/struts.

3. Electrics and multimedia

Multimedia system failures (Mazda Connect)

Freezing, spontaneous reboots, incorrect operation of CarPlay/Android Auto are possible.

Solution: update the software, reset the system.

Malfunction of parking sensors and rear view camera

Sometimes the sensors give false alarms, the camera can freeze or show a dark image.

Solution: check the wiring, clean the contacts, update the software.

Fast battery discharge

Especially relevant for cars with a start-stop system.

Solution: replace the battery with a more capacious one, disable the start-stop.

4. Body and corrosion

Weak protection against chips and corrosion

The paintwork of Mazda is quite thin, chips appear quickly, which can rust.

Solution: anti-gravel film, anti-corrosion treatment of the body.

Problems with door seals

In the cold season, there may be fogging or moisture penetration.

Solution: treating the seals with silicone grease.

5. Brake system

Squeaking brakes

Even with good condition of the pads and discs, the brakes can squeak.

Solution: replacing the pads with alternative, softer analogs.

Uneven wear of brake discs

Often due to uneven pressure of the pads or contamination of the caliper guides.

Solution: cleaning the caliper guides at each maintenance.

Most of these problems are solved within the warranty service or by timely contacting the service. Regular maintenance and diagnostics help to minimize the risk of malfunctions.

If you encounter one of these problems, it is recommended to contact an authorized Mazda dealer or use the repair manual to fix it yourself.
