1989 was a particularly rich year for engine development for Nissan. In one year, the company released 2 engines, each of which was interesting in itself and attracted public attention.
The first was the RB26DETT, developed specifically for the Nissan Skyline GT-R. This engine gained worldwide fame due to its high potential for increasing power. The second engine of the same year was called VH45DE and had a power of 278 horsepower. Both copies lasted on the market for more than 10 years and ended their existence in 2002.
Based on the second engine, the VH41DE was also created in 1991, which was a smaller version of its predecessor. However, it did not achieve greater success and went out of production even earlier - in 2001. Instead, the K9K engine was often used, which was developed and put into production in the same year. It was distinguished by more economical fuel consumption and lower manufacturing costs, which made it possible to make cars budget-friendly.
However, the absolute favorite of the public was the VQ40DE, created in 2005. It is still in production today and is considered Nissan's most reliable engine.
