Nissan VG30E Repair Manual. The Nissan VG30E engine is a gasoline engine driven by a timing belt. The VG30E has 6 cylinders and 4 valves per cylinder, for a total of 24. The VG30E engine has 2 aluminum heads, each with 6 valves and a camshaft. The SOHC gas distribution system is a distinctive feature of the engine. After the introduction of the 4-valve system, the engine index changed to VG30DE. A belt is used to drive the gas distribution mechanism, which reduces the noise level, but somewhat reduces reliability.

The VG30E ignition system is equipped with a distributor and a switch. Belts are used to drive external units. The cooling system fan is mounted on a viscous coupling. For each row of cylinders, a separate exhaust manifold is used, covered with a steel heat shield. The cooling system is forced, with a mechanical pump and thermostat.

For fuel delivery, the VG30E uses mono injection or EFI multipoint injection. Motors can be equipped with an oxygen concentration sensor, which is necessary to correct the mixture composition. Fuel is supplied from the tank by an electrically driven pump. The valve drive is equipped with hydraulic compensators, which are quite reliable and simplify engine maintenance.

A special feature of the VG30E is the use of a common main bearing cap. The pistons are made of aluminum, the pin is kept from moving by retaining rings. The oil pump is located in the front cover and is directly driven from the crankshaft. For the first half of the 80s. last century, the VG30E engine had a fairly advanced design and was equipped with fuel injection.
